Peel's Theatre Auditorium
A former movie theatre was converted in a multi-purpose auditorium venue complete with a stage, state-of-the-art audio/visual system, finely tuned acoustics, and unique lighting schemes which incorporate fiber optics. Interesting floor materials break up the large expanse of open floor space and provide a dynamic quality.
Traveling the narrow, 40-foot-long corridor leading into the auditorium was intended to be part of the experience by the use of circular frosted windows that are lit from behind with fiber optics that emit a rainbow of revolving colors. The ceiling was also made into a feature that depicts motion by alternating curved, translucent panels that break up the monotonous plane. Patterns of recessed niches were added to the walls between the acoustical panels to add a punch of color and introduce dimension. Overlapping ceiling planes, including a large red circular soffit at center, add layers and additional depth to the overall volume of space.
The space is used for a number of fashion shows, instructional seminars, and is available to the public for holding special events.
